Wedding entertainment and music is an integral part of any wedding day, helping to create atmosphere and get people in the mood for a party!
Where do you begin when planning for your entertainment and music needs?
Here’s a quick guide taking you through the day.
CEREMONY MUSIC
The first point of the day that you’ll need music is your ceremony. Some couples want to have a specific version of a song for the bride walking down the aisle and so opt for a pre-recorded version to be played via speakers. This is fine, but what if you want some live music?
You’ll find a selection of extremely talented Scottish wedding ceremony musicians; whether you want a pianist, vocal duo, string quartet, acoustic set or even a wedding piper.
You’ll want the musician to cover the guests arriving and waiting on the ceremony starting, the entrance song, signing the register and leaving as a married couple!
DRINKS RECEPTION
Do you want to provide music or entertainment during the drinks reception?
You can find a range of fantastic Scottish wedding entertainers such as magicians, caricaturists, mixologists and even alpaca handlers to add some flair to your day!
Music should be considered here also. You could get your ceremony musician to play during the drinks reception, too.

WEDDING BREAKFAST
Give your guests some music to bop along to while they’re enjoying their dinner.
Lots of couples opt for a playlist that the venue can put on through their sound system which is a good, cost-effective idea.
It’s really fun to work on a playlist with your partner too!
Add some of your own personal tastes to the music and your guests will love it.
PARTY TIME!
The main event when it comes to wedding music and entertainment has got to be the wedding reception.
If you choose to have a wedding DJ, give them some direction in terms of the style or tracks that you might want (or absolutely not want!). Don’t give them a definitive list though – a good wedding DJ will play off of the atmosphere of the crowd so they won’t want to stick to a rigid playlist.
A wedding band is also a great choice, and there are some cracking Scottish wedding bands to choose from. If you want a band, do your research and go to see them play before you book them. You’ll be able to find a band that is reflective of your musical tastes, whether that be rock, jazz or swing!
As it’s a Scottish wedding, you can’t really go wrong with a good ceilidh band. They’re sure to get the party started!
As for entertainment on your wedding evening, you can’t go wrong with a fun photobooth, a glitter or facepainting bar, casino tables or, if you have the budget, a fabulous fireworks display.
The possibilities really are endless.
