Choosing Wedding Venues in Scotland

You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a Scottish wedding venue. Scotland really does have beautiful wedding venues in the world in some of the most scenic locations.

Where do you even start when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding venue in Scotland?

YOUR PERFECT SCOTTISH VENUE

First of all, make sure that you know your guest numbers. You can only look at venues that are suitable for the amount of guests you have, whether that’s a very intimate ceremony or a big party.

It’s also important to be realistic about budget. Take some time to sit down with your other half and work out how much you want to spend on your wedding venue early on. This means that you won’t set your heart on something that is way too expensive from the outset.

What are your non-negotiables when it comes to a wedding venue? The things that you and your partner won’t budge on? Maybe it’s in-house catering, guest accommodation or lots of amazing outdoor space? Whatever it is, make a list that you can check off when you visit potential wedding venues.

SEARCH FAR AND WIDE

Location is also an important consideration. Do you want to get married where you live or are you happy to go a little further afield?

Choosing the right location is key if you want to make sure the most important people in your life are there.

There are so many gorgeous locations in Scotland that it really is a tough decision!

Whether it be a city celebration or a lochside day you’re after, you’re sure to find somewhere completely perfect.

Do your research! Choosing a Scottish wedding venue is one of the biggest and most expensive decisions of the whole planning process, so take a little extra time to really look into all the options.

Read reviews, check out social media and take a peek at some photographer images of other weddings shot at your potential venue of choice.

You want to make sure you get exactly what you want. Don’t be scared to ask the venue co-ordinator questions too.

Weddings can often come with hidden costs, so make sure that you have covered off what is included for the price you are quoted to avoid any unwanted surprises later.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

When you’ve managed to narrow down your options, get to work booking appointments to visit the venues.

Go with a list of questions to ask: how does a wedding day typically run there? Will you get help with decor or is it a DIY venue? Can you create a bespoke menu?

Make sure you cover off everything.

Choosing your venue can be a bit like finding your dream wedding dress.

When it’s the right one, you’ll know. You’ll get that feeling! If you can imagine your day there and envisage you both at the end of the aisle, then move quickly; book your date before anyone else does!
