After getting engaged during a game of crazy golf, Eve and Joseph were lucky enough to be offered use of a private house in Moffat for their wedding, the perfect place to showcase Scotland to their family from West Yorkshire.
Why did you choose Scotland for your wedding?
We fell in love with Scotland whilst living in Edinburgh, where I studied my masters at the University of Edinburgh.
I became friends with a very kind Scottish woman whilst studying for my Masters at the University of Edinburgh. She offered us their beautiful country house for our wedding day. Their generosity enabled us to have the most beautiful wedding unique to ourselves, surrounded by the rolling hills of Moffat. Â
Planning our wedding during a pandemic was extremely difficult. The goal posts were constantly changing for how many guests we could have but we adjusted and managed to have exactly the small intimate wedding day we dreamed of.
Our humanist celebrant, Maureen Kettle, was helpful beyond words and settled us during those strange times. She conducted the most special personal ceremony for the two of us. She helped us to write our love’s history and encouraged us to involve our most special guests in our ceremony, making it incredibly special and memorable for the rest of our lives. Maureen made everyone laugh at the right times and made everyone feel welcome. She truly made it an outstanding ceremony that was so heartwarming, chilled and happy and we are so thankful for all of Maureen’s accommodating friendly guidance.
Top tips:
Sicilian Bakery in Edinburgh are the most amazing bakery and they made our wedding cake. It meant a lot to me that we had a traditional Italian millefoglie wedding cake for our special day as my Italian Nonna had passed away and it was important to me to respect my Italian heritage.
