Married in Scotland

Lisa-marie and Ross, Balbirnie House Hotel

Their story

“Where to begin… it was the most magical day of our lives! I remember saying that I felt so happy, my cheeks were sore by the end of the day! From the moment we woke up, to the minute we finally went to bed, the staff at Balbirnie made sure everything ran smoothly for us and made sure we had the best day possible. They even made sure our dogs & my horse could be part of our day.

Something we’ll remember forever.”

“I absolutely loved getting ready with the girls and when I stepped into my dress I felt like a real life Disney princess!”

“Our celebrant, Raymond Lawrie, made everyone laugh & the ceremony was just perfect-especially when our 2 dogs came down the aisle as ring bearers! The ceremony room & ballroom looked absolutely beautiful, just as we had imagined. Just after the ceremony and our big group photo, we were taken to a private room for 10 minutes to enjoy some time just us and that was really special.”

“During our drinks reception, we had booked a magician and a bird of prey display for our guests- I would highly recommend having something booked during the drinks reception for your guests to enjoy. We were away for some time for our photographs so it was good knowing our guests were being entertained.”

“When it came to the meal, WOW! The food was phenomenal & all our guests commented on this aspect of our day- everyone loves a good feed!”

Our wedding band, Carbon Copy, definitely made our night by playing games with our guests, adding some ceilidh dancing (at our request) and keeping everyone on the dance floor all night long. We had so much fun & after 2 fun years of planning, everything finally came together and we could not have asked for a better day shared with our loved ones. It was like a dream come true!

Here is some advice from Lisa-marie to help with staying calm and planning the most perfect day:

“Don’t be 40 m1inutes late down the aisle-oops!

If you have young children going to your wedding, definitely have something for them-we made busy boxes and booked a soft play (life saver!!!)

Definitely don’t sweat the small stuff- everything comes together in the end and nobody knows if anything goes wrong other than you.

If your dress or your MOH dress rips on the morning of your wedding, just before your ceremony, there is not much you can do- just forget about it and have the best day ever!

If you think you’re walking slowly down the aisle, walk even slower!

Keep your flowers down low “flower to flower”

If you are marrying a “rugby boy” then be prepared for an evening reception of tops off, ties around heads & a crazy night! (Some bums were even on show!)”

It sounding like Lisa-marie and Ross had a magical day surrounded by their loved ones.
