Our Dream Wedding at Errol Estate Silverwood, Perth

Our Wedding at Errol Estate Silverwood

When we first visited Errol Estate Silverwood, we knew straight away it was the one. Set in the heart of the Scottish countryside, just ten minutes from Perth, it’s peaceful, elegant, and surrounded by open fields and a beautiful lake complete with swans. It honestly felt like something out of a storybook.

We’re Arlene and David, and like so many modern love stories, we met on Tinder. At the time, I (Arlene) was an air hostess based in Aberdeen, and David was a 6’5” policeman living in Dumfries. The distance made dating tricky at first, but somehow we made it work. Eventually, I made the big move south to be with him, and not long after, he proposed!

Finding “The One” Venue

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but I had a little advantage because I was already working part-time in the wedding industry, helping at events and shows. I loved the creative side of it and had met so many wonderful suppliers over the years.

It was actually during a family lodge break at Silverwood that we first saw the wedding barn. The moment we stepped inside, we just looked at each other and knew right away. With its warm rustic beams, modern finishes, and views over the water, it felt intimate but grand all at once.

We ended up signing quite a few of our suppliers at a wedding show hosted at Silverwood, which made everything fall into place naturally.

Our Special Day

We had around 120 guests for the day and another 40 who joined us for the evening, with some travelling all the way from Canada.

Lucy Black, our humanist celebrant, was absolutely amazing. Her personality fit ours perfectly and she made our ceremony feel so personal and full of laughter. We didn’t hire a planner because I felt confident managing the details myself, but our suppliers made everything so smooth and stress-free.

Our photographer, Derek Dunlop, and our videographer, Derek from Sunshine Photography & Videography, both deserve special mentions. They made us feel completely comfortable and captured our day beautifully.

The Flower Pixies created our bouquets and floral displays, which added just the right touch of colour and softness. Kirsty MacPherson Hair and Runway Studios Makeup worked their magic on me, my bridesmaids, and our mums, making everyone feel incredible. For the finishing touches, we used The Signature Collection by Fiona Arch, which fitted our theme perfectly. Wedding entertainment was provided by Cameron Young Magic and he really impressed our guests with his magic skills.

When it was time to party, The Klones Wedding Band filled the dance floor from the very first song. The atmosphere was electric and no one wanted it to end.

For something a little different, we opted for a sweetheart table instead of a traditional top table, just the two of us in our own special corner surrounded by all the love and laughter. It was one of our favourite touches of the day.
